Meet the Dasher: Live like a Local, from Strength to Sparkle
Rahul was seeking new opportunities in Asia, where he could see growth was happening. He was born in India and spent his childhood in Indonesia. Leaving Indonesia 17 years ago, Rahul worked in Guangzhou, one of the most vibrant cities in China, and he was transferred by his company to Hong Kong 5 years ago. He is now an MBA graduate from Hong Kong University, exploring the city landscape as a foodie and enjoying the perks as a Dasher.
What brings you to Hong Kong?
I initially worked for a professional recruitment firm in Guangzhou, and I was transferred to Hong Kong. Staying in this city for five and a half years, I have been to many places and made many new friends.
What are the differences between the living environment in HK and mainland China/ Indonesia?
Honestly speaking, the apartment here is relatively small compared to the size of an apartment in cities in China.
However, social life in Hong Kong is vibrant and exciting. In this international city, you can meet interesting people from various fields, such as banks, media, retail and e-commerce, which can widen your horizon and enrich your knowledge.
Living in Hong Kong is also very convenient as there are MTR links, bus links, ferries and trams. For example, you can go hiking in the daytime on Lamma Island and have happy hour drinks in Central with friends in the evening, as travelling between the countryside and the city centre could be less than an hour.
Why would you choose to stay in Dash Living?
The coliving and community lifestyle offered by Dash Living is something new that I have never experienced before. As an extrovert, I love to join events and make new friends. Dash Living offers regular community events, which help us bond with other tenants.
Compared to hotel rooms without any kitchenette, the apartment Dash Living provides all basic cooking tools for daily cooking. Besides, the location is PRIME – Causeway Bay is convenient for my commute to work and to meet up with friends.
What kind of events are you interested in?
I am a massive Foodie. Therefore I wish to join a cheese tasting event or invite tenants to bring their food to share, as homemade dishes can always spark joy. It is the best way to connect with friends from different cultures.
Apart from indoor activities, outdoor sporting activities, especially hiking, is rather intriguing. I have been to Sunset Peak, Devil’s Peak and Twin Peaks. The landscape is simply stunning and astonishing!
Do you enjoy your stay in Dash Living?
Yes, I do enjoy it! The Community Team promptly answered my questions. Once my fridge was out of order, someone quickly fixed it for me.
The perks are very compelling too. I’ve been to VO2 Fitness & Martial Arts to enjoy the free gym, and I will register for the Deliveroo dining perk later as it is handy! Not to mention Dash Living sending us bottles of baileys. Frankly, it was a good surprise!
