Meet the Dasher: The Cheery Civil Engineer Who Loves Exploring
What’s it like living in Singapore as an expat? Meet Ram, a Civil Engineer from the Philippines, who spends his time exploring the great outdoors with friends he made here. We had a casual chat to find out more about his life in Singapore and his experience co-living with the Dash Community.
Hi Ram! Which area are you living in and how long have you been a Dash Living tenant?
R: I’m living in Geylang and I’ve been with Dash since May 2020!
What does your free time at home look like?
R: When I’m at home, I like to read books while having coffee or try out new cooking recipes. I also enjoy watching docuseries on Netflix.
What’s your experience with the Dash Community so far?
R: The Dash Community has been very welcoming! I’ve been living with lovely people and the co-living environment makes you feel like you’re home. I’ve made a lot of friends and shared great moments with them.
It’s great to hear that you’ve been enjoying community living! Where do you usually hang out with your friends and what do you do?
R: We normally hang out at a bar, try a new restaurant in town or do outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and wakeboarding.
Seems like being an expat in Singapore isn’t boring at all! Have you attended any Dash Community events and if so, did you enjoy them?
R: I attended a rooftop gathering organized by Dash and I only have good things to say about it! Events like this help us expand our social life and make new friends. What’s more fascinating is that the diversity in our culture enables us to see what’s out there in the world.
It’s always interesting to learn about other cultures! Care to share with us your favourite dining and drinking spots in the neighbourhood?
R: In Geylang? Hmm, there’s so much to name, but I’d say I fancy the Vietnamese restaurant along the river called ‘Little Vietnam‘. Aside from its tasty food, I like how welcoming the staff is and how refreshing the environment is!
